This Scam is Still Around?
As the above fax shows, the mysterious "I want to buy stuff from you" scam is still out there. Has anyone really fallen for this scam or others like it? You can comment anonymously and no one will judge you.
Still get a call maybe twice a month from the relay call center for the deaf. The scammer will use this so there is no caller ID or anything. They will then ask for 100 boxes of test strips which will be paid for over the phone with a stolen credit card. They never give up
Haven't heard this for years, with the relay centre for calls from the deaf. Had an experience with this many years ago,as a relatively inexperienced pharmacist.I had never heard about it, but knew it couldn't be for real. But the operator from the relay centre just kept getting me back and cross questioning about why I wouldn't help this guy, and I must have had 6 repetitive pestering calls before they finally gave up. It was really wierd. None of the other pharmacists had heard about it at the time (mid-1990s). Interesting to know that it's still a thing.
I got that exact email word for word. I didn't know it was a scam, and as it was a busy Monday morning and we don't carry that stuff, into the DPI box it went.
Yup, got one of those relay calls within the last couple of months. Couldn't believe they are still trying to pull that stuff. Is ANYONE falling for it?
now, now....just use the e-mail address for something fun. Sign him up for newsletters for all kinds of things: Cat Fancy, Mother Earth, Army Officer Monthly, support groups of any kind, CDC updates, Fierce Pharma, Poultry Farmers Digest....

ReplyDeleteI get that whole "You won a cruise!!!!" call/mailer a lot. I'm sure they make a lot of money from it or they wouldn't keep doing it.
