They take care of our teeth. We want to chomp on food and they keep our chompers going. Unfortunately, most didn't get a lot of pharmacology and it shows when they prescribe.
Note the Rx picture... It reads Doxycycline 500mg by mouth twice daily for 20 days. At this strength would not only cause horrible diarrhea, it might even kill the patient.
Ouch! I have problems like this everyday. I guess they are starting to pump out doctors already for the shortage that is going to incur in about 5 to 10 years. Last prescription I had a problem with was yesterday. I woman just had her baby, and the dad was in the pharmacy with a percocet rx. No strength and no quantity were written on the rx. What the hell! How retarded is this doctor. After several calls, I finally got ahold of the doctor, and she called in Lortab 5s with the same quantity. What? You did not give a quantity! She then said, oh, #20. OMG! What are we going to do with these idiots?
ReplyDeleteAs a dental PT. not funny. Well it is, but now I will look up my script in the PDR before filling. That is hard to do when "my" copy of the PDR is @ the library.
ReplyDeleteWell no one is perfect. I just hope I catch all the serious mistakes that come my way. No one ever means to do patient harm and as the last link in the chain I try to stay diligent on the task.
ReplyDeleteI read that as 500mcg
ReplyDeleteWell if it was supposed to be 500 mcg, its a fatal mistake to forget the "c" as they did
ReplyDeleteThis is why we appreciate and respect our pharmacists and techs.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you posting again!
Read that as mcg with the mu character...not a mistake.
