Ok, people are starting to get the message. For the most part people disconnect from their phone call when they step up to the pharmacy to pay for their medication. It's nice to see that.
But unfortunately, TOO MANY of you are still texting when you step up to the window. You're in your own little world, and sometimes you're not seeing that your co-pay went up. You really need to stop tapping the letters for a minute long enough to pay for your medication and get counseled if necessary. Your text can wait. I promise.
I like to talk REALLY LOUD and startle people when they are involved in a phone conversation at the counter. I usually only do it if it's a new medication though. "DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE PHARMACIST?!"
ReplyDeleteI had an idiot the other day picking up a prescription for her NEWBORN who was so into her phone conversation that she didn't respond to anything I was asking or saying. That chapped my hide.
I like that one! Scare the heck out of them...
ReplyDeleteMy company used to have a policy about not helping people until they were done with their cell phone. Then they changed the policy saying that it was "rude" not to help people even if they were on the phone. You know, customer service and all...
After that a bunch of pharmacists faxed corporate with a signed statement stating that they would not be responsible for what might happen if the patient/advocate was not paying attention during a counsel because of using a cell phone.
As of yet, no reply from corporate on that one.
Personally I just document on the hard copy that the patient was on a cell phone.
"I just want to make sure you understand that those vaginal warts can never be cured. I'm sorry, we're you on the phone?"
