My doc says Atenolol, AT a-LEN-ole. And that's OK, because I can't pronounce his name.

Had a colleague make fun of someone for spelling Xanax with a Z...and then she proceeded to say "Val POR ic Acid" instead of Valproic acid about 12 times in a hour.

Custy needed her son's nighttime med: you know, the "DD..PP" (DDAVP). At least it was properly descriptive,,,,
If they had covered or clovered up in the first place they wouldn't need acyclovir now, would they?
At my hospital, no two doctors or nurses pronounce the names the same, for just about any drug 3-sylable drug unless it's aspirin or Tylenol.
My dad used to call his digoxin "dioxin". I suspect because dioxin was prominent in the news at that time. I gave up correcting him because it didn't "stick".

Amoxil is a brand of amoxicillin here. We get a lot of people passing us prescriptions and telling us they want the "Amoxillin".

Had a dr. send over a prescription of "Xanax" for a pt. The pt told be he called his dr wanting his "zantacs." Dr did this twice with the same pt.
