Curmudgeon Destiny

"I'm the consumer. You're the pharmacy. That's your business. YOU take care of it."

These are the exact words said to me by a patient wanting a prescription transferred to our location in response to my asking her if the other Goofmart pharmacy had the prescription on their shelf ready for her to pick up.

It was a simple question, really. A simple yes or no would save oodles of time on our end. But apparently it was somehow offensive.

If people still wonder why pharmacists become old curmudgeons and hermits, it's because of stories like these.

We once had a client tell us that "Your lack of hours doesn't mean I should have to pay an emergency fee." Oh, yes. Sorry we're ONLY open until 3 pm on Saturdays, and when you called at 10:30am and refused the 1pm appointment we offered because you had a lunch to go to you were told your dog could be seen as an emergency after 3.
