Lunchtime at the Pharmacy

I will never understand the mentality of people who think they'll run into the pharmacy during their lunch hour to get a prescription filled. Along with that I'll never understand a regional manager that puts together a conference call to take place during the busy lunch hour.

For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, let me get some crayons and explain it to you.

People take their daily lunch anywhere from 11am to 1pm, with most being around 12 noon. And in most cases, the physician offices are doing the same. So your typical pharmacy gets an influx of prescriptions between 10:30 and 11:30 as physician offices clear out their prescription orders before they go to lunch. The pharmacy gets these prescriptions and we go to work on them. Simultaneously we're still filling the morning queue and dealing with the prescription order from our supplier that arrived that morning. 

This is the BUSIEST time of the day for most pharmacies. This is NOT the time to stop by the pharmacy for a "quick fill" of your prescription. And yet, every day, people rush into the pharmacy thinking this is the best time of the day to get their prescription filled.
