I am the Crazy RxMan, your local pharmacist... smart enough to be a pharmacist, insane enough to work retail!
Very appropriate. Even if you manage to catch it, you're still in the drink.
Lets see...my insurance only pays for the vaccine when I'm 60 or older, the new recommendations are now to get it at 50 but I would have to pay out of pocket at 200+ dollars, I had shingles in my early 30s the same time my kids all had chicken pox, my sister had shingles in her 20s as well as my husband and the information out there says you really only get shingles once. So according to the the information out there and since we've already had shingles as well as other friends I've spoken with who have had it, we really don't need the vaccine if you only get shingles one time??? Maybe they need to lower the age recommendations. PS I happen to be an RPh also, I'm all for vaccines but if it's already too late to get the vaccine I'm not going to worry about it. It's like my kids...they got chicken pox about the time the vaccine was coming out on the market, but got them before getting the vaccine...oh well. At that time the protection was at 30% anyway according to their pediatrician
